Things have been a bit "crowded" in the hood for several days now.
Uhmmmm..........so if I don't learn this flying thing the first time I'll end up WHERE?????? That's a LONG way down......THERE!!!!
I think the thought of "down there" prompted all the practice flying!!!
And then they were gone! I had hoped to see them actually leave the nest....I went inside for a few minutes, came back out and they were all gone. I noticed Mama Bird was at her usual perch......several feet from the nest where she has pretty much stayed for the past few days....she flew back to the nest, saw it was empty, flew into the woods and hasn't been seen since.
Mission accomplished!!

Awwww. It's kind of sad to think they are all grown up and leaving the nest. :-)
That's so sweet! I have some Black Capped Chickadees nesting in one of my little bird houses out back. I see the momma going back & fourth with food, I can't wait to see the little heads peaking out. :)

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. We had baby birds on the porch. One morning I saw them flapping their wings. I went to get coffee and a camera. Came back and they were gone.
How sweet! Good for them!
They take off pretty quick don't they. You *did* check Bella and Heidi for stray feathers sticking out of their mouths, didn't you? lol
So sweet. I miss my birdies, but the feeder brings rats into the yard.
