SNOW Day and First FO of 2008!!!

See it?? Can you SEE IT??? It's SNOWING.......In Alabama.....and it isn't even April!! LOL!!! (Which is when we have had record breaking snow/ice storms in the past.)

I believe this is what is referred to as a "dusting" of snow...but hey...it's snow.....I'll take it any way I can get it!!

TERRIBLE lighting.....

STR Hollyday lightweight yarn.

K3,P1 pattern.

I LOVED this yarn while in the skein, when I rolled into a cake I loved it even more.....not so much when knitted!! The heel looks the most like the true colors of the yarn, which is a beautiful golden yellow, orangy-red, dark forest green and a tad brighter than olive green with just a tiny bit of a cranberry color.

For some reason when knitted the colors changed......the yellow just looked different with the other colors....no longer a pretty yellow....the colors sort of "meshed" together and lost their true colors.....yet on the heel, where it actually striped it looks like the true yarn color.

As much as I LOVE STR yarn, and I have over 30 skeins.....I am sort of falling out of love with it. Pooling doesn't really bother me....but when a yarn takes on a totally different color once knitted, well, that just bothers me!!

I am envious of your snow. We had some here yesterday but it didn't even amount to a dusting despite it being quite dramatic with big flakes blowing around!

I love that picture of Bella! Hilarious! Your snow pics turned out much better than mine. I had to snag some off of ABC33/40. And the socks look great! Although, I know what you're talking about with the pooling. Mine, too.

I can't BELIEVE you ad snow! I knew it was snowing in Atlanta, but now my jealousy knows no bounds (we had a solid 12 hours of rain instead).

Snow!!! Wow. :) I love your socks, and I know what you mean by the STR. I don't have thirty skeins, but I have quite a bit. I don't know if it's the newer stuff they're dyeing or what. I haven't gotten to the post office, but I promise tomorrow I will and get your roving to you!

I agree with the sock. Love the heel. If the whole thing would have turned out like that. I may knit something elsh with mine.

I had some CTH that did that to me. I was extremely bright in the skein and balled up and when you knit it up, the color combination muted itself out. I was so bummed, even though they were still great looking socks.

Hi Darlene! You had SNOW! I'm so jealous! Although it has been a tad on the cool side here in NW FL lately, something I've been enjoying.

I was looking at your STR socks. They are wild aren't they? BUt I know they are warm and cozy too. Even if the color scheme/pooling bugs ya.

I've discovered that if I get really wild pooling of the color like that if I frogg and try a lacier pattern it disturbs the pooling effect a bit. But sometimes I just knit them that way anyway. I had on a pair of socks last night that looks just like that wildly striped/pooled. I still love 'em though.

So which do you love more these days... knitting or spinning? GRIN
