I have a long standing tradition of starting the first day of the new year spending the entire day in my P.J.'s (I'll spare you that lovely vision).......sipping Mimosas all day, eating Panettone (you know, for that last minute chance to add a few more pounds before starting the first of the year diet)......and in the past few years adding in knitting!!
Working on a pair of socks, Socks That Rock yarn.....Hollydays....a gift from my best bud Cindy...just a simple K3, P1 rib....very easy and soothing to knit!!
I had grandiose plans of working on my yarn stash today...and I did think about it this morning.....but as soon as that thought came to mind I just poured another Mimosa.......yarn stash can wait until another day!! LOL!!
Just a few Christmas decorations before they go back into storage:
Made by my Grandmother in the late 1970's.
Caroler........
Glass Christmas Balls......
This fella is NOT going into storage...he has a new home on a shelf in my kitchen.....thank you SOOO much Wendy!!!
I LOVE him!!!!!!
A little candle glow......
Fluffy sheep/reindeer mutant.....
Happy little Gingerbread Man!!!!
Now I'm off to cook the traditional Southern New Year's Day meal.......turnip greens, black eyed peas, cornbread, ham.........YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like your having a good day. I had a mimosa this morning too...Yummo!!
Well, I had several mimosa's too and didn't do what I was going to do either. I started spinning with the change I made to my wheel. Everything was unspinning (if that's a word) and I just said forget it (that's not what I really said) and put it up.
Well I am still waiting for DH to open the dang champagne... I had to change out of my pj's just a little while ago to go take a photo of my sweater for the blog.
I love your tradition!
The ornaments are so pretty, I love the snowman though!
That's a nice tradition and a lovely day. We've been almost nothing today. I like the caroler and happy gingerbread man ornaments.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Darlene!
Happy New Year! We also had the traditional southern new year's day fare. Hopefully it will bring us all good luck, health and wealth! I also worked on socks and have just the toe seaming to finish up.
Have a great week and i'll see you this weekend!
