Some Day We Will Spin My Darling!!!

Drumroll please.........

After 2 months of sitting in pieces in the basement I bring you......

Ta Daaaa!!!!!!!

Isn't it purdy????? I know he was cheap, not as high class as the ones I have lusted over....but he's mine and I LUV him!!!!!

Look at that wheel, those pedals, those gleaming brass hooks, that beautiful squooshy yarn.....

WHAT??? What do you mean "what yarn"???

O.K, so we haven't exactly gotten to "first base" yet!!! BUT.....we are working on it.....seems as though I am a bit nervous...having issues getting the "tension" just right.

I have spun some....Stuff.....just not sure that it qualifies as yarn......as in ANY kind of yarn....or Hey.....maybe I just invented a NEW kind of yarn!!!! LOL!!!

I have a book, I do NOT like to read instructions (I don't even like to read those informative little tutorials found oh so conveniently on the computer.........ask my mother....I have a problem I call her)!!!

I have had such good offers of advice from Jessi and Elizabeth so I'll put their advice to good use and I know I will get it .......just like anything else in life....practice makes perfect!!

SO......until further notice....and until the "tension" clears just gaze upon the empty bobbin and dream along with me of beautiful yarn!!!!!

I thought I heard some yelling coming from over there! ;-) It'll get better. Just remember to take breaks and walk away before you chunk the roving out the window. LOL

You will! You'll get the hang of it! By the time SAFF rolls around, you won't even need a class!

He needs a name! Regardless, he's beautiful!

You can always call RaeJean at Sheep to Shawl and set up a class with her. She'll do one on one and she really helped me get the tension right on my wheel. Plus, she doesn't make you read anything. :-)

YAY! It looks beautiful! I felt the same way when I got my Kiwi, may not be the best, most expensive etc....but I LOVE IT!!!! Just keep practicing. And pre-draft a lot! Also, I had a really really hard time at first learning because I was trying to learn with Merino and I have since learned that is a harder wool to start with, so I got some coopworth and started with that, much much easier. Infact, I have some here that I would love to send you if you want it. E mail me (bacobl@gmail.com) it makes a scratchy yarn, so it's not the greatest to knit with, butit's very "sticky" so it's perfect for starting out with. Let me know!

I know you'll be spinning georgous sock yarn any time now! And I'll have to tease you out of some of it and trade you a new pair of blockers for it! hehe (insert devious laugh)

It's beautimous!!! I covet thy Kiwi wheel.............
Can't wait to see what pretties you create.

He's beautiful, uh, handsome! I'm sure with some time and practice, he'll make beautiful yarn for you. Cherish that first designer yarn. Someday you might want to make yarn that looks like that and you will have forgotten how. ;)

Oooooh! Ahhhhh! Just knowing that there is the *possibility* of yarn is worth a lot!
