We Interupt This Sock For An Important Announcement
WELL......pull up a chair and I'll tell you a little story of how NOT to knit a sock heel!!
So, I'm happily knitting away on my second Socktoberfest sock....(which I am now calling the Latetoberfest sock).....anyway.......you know on that simple pattern when you get to the point where you have just turned the heel and it says: Knit across the heel stitches and pick up the side stitches???
Guess what happens when you DON'T knit across that turned heel before you start picking up stitches....ahhh.....you real sock knitters already know I bet......you end up knitting INSIDE OUT!! Yessiree....that is EXACTLY what happens when you leave out that tiny little step of knitting across the heel!! And I would imagine that MOST folks would pick right up on that fact....but ME???? Oh NOOOOO.....took me 2, thats TWO times before it dawned on me!!!! I am going to blame it on the lateness of the hour factoring in extreme fatigue and hopefully not that I am a complete IDIOT!!!
SO.........while I get my Latetoberfest sock back on track tonight I bring this view from my yard! I read somewhere that Fall is God's Greeting Card.....WOW!!!

Girl this is too funny. Well, I know its not funny, but you know what i mean. I can't say that I've ever made that particular blunder but trust me I made TONS in my sock knitting career so far!
So how are your blockers working out for you? Any nibbles on the 2nd pair?
I've done that before too. Luckily, I realized it before I'd gone too far!
Latetoberfest--Ha! Love the autumn photo too, by the way. A great scene to focus on and get a break from the sock making madness
I'm not far behind you. I've lost track of how many times I've forgotten the Turn and start to just pick up stitches.
Too funny, don't worry I've done dumb things like that and couldn't figure it out many, many times.
Love that picture, very serene.
Been there, done that! So, did you take it out until that point or just rip it all?! The view of your yard is gorgeous!
I guess I am learning....I was able to rip back to the point where I messed up and re-knit rather than ripping the ENTIRE sock out!!
The fall leaves are beautiful. The good news is you knew what you did wrong and I bet you won't do it again. Any knitting is a learning experience.
Your backyard looks BEAUTIful!!!
Several times I've forgotten to turn the heel before picking up stitches. So you're not the only one. Those leaves are beautiful!
