Bloomin Sock Update and A New Kitty

As promised, a Bloomin Update!!

What in this picture doesn't look quite right??? Would you guess the ball of yarn that is NOT connected to the working yarn????

I can't figure out what has happened. This sock is the SAME length as the finished sock....yet I have run out of yarn. The ball of yarn shown is what was left over from the first sock!! I have started the toe decreases and I am VERY hesitant to add in a new yarn for the toe!! I am afraid it won't hold up! I have only joined in new yarn while knitting scarves.....and it didn't intimidate me because I knew the "wear and tear" factor for a scarf would be minimal....but THIS.....I am REALLY nervous!!! I don't have time to order more of this yarn and make another sock before the deadline to mail!! UGH!!! I'll have to confer with my sock guru's to see what is the best thing to do!!

AND........
A sneak peek at Bella Kitty!!
Will post more later!!

Bummer! Was the yarn in one big skein or two seperate skeins when you rec'd it? It is possible that if you had to wind and divide the yarn you didn't get it quite even. Bite the bullet and knit on...it'll all be ok!

BTW, do you have a swift and ballwinder? I wasn't sure if you'd rather have your It Takes Two in a ball or skein...

Good luck with your sock! Bella is such a pretty calico. Wish I could have a cat

I don't think joining new yarn in the toe will really be an issue, there's a lot more stress at the ankle and heel. At least on my socks that is :)

Gorgeous so far!

If you're really worried about adding the yarn at the toe, why not tink back a row or two and add it at the front of the foot? I've never heard anyone complain about a sock that was a bit cushionier at the ball of the foot...

what a total bummer - but I'm thinking that a join on the toe won't be too bad - at least not as bad as if it was on the ball of the foot -
they're looking good, despite the mishap!
